Reminder to BOH members that two (2) hours of continuing education are required to be completed each calendar year, per ORC 3701.342.
Verification sheets (attached), and copies of certificates (if applicable) need to be submitted to Health Commissioner. There is an applicable training on Sunshine Laws (very good for new members) and there are also On-Demand classes that you may take on their website for CE's.

6.1 Garden Donations Update

From this point forward, the GCHD will not solicit for donations per the AOS answer:

Good afternoon –

The answer to your question is yes, the Health Department can accept outside donations. However, the Health Department should not go out and look for fundraisers for donations.

If fundraisers need to happen, that should come from a “friends of the Health Dept group” that are creating the fundraiser. An example on this would be, the Health Department cannot use a chipotle fundraiser because ultimately the Health Department is asking Chipotle to run this fundraiser. If Chipotle wanted to just donate money to the Health Department, that is acceptable.

 

Police and Fire receive outside donations from individuals or businesses and that is ok. Same theory applies to the Health Department.
