Galion Board of Health Meeting

The Board and staff will recognize the many years of service of retiring member Mr. Doug Schilling. The Board may also consider electing officer(s), as Mr. Schilling's retirement leaves the President Pro Tem position vacant. 

A legislative copy of the Galion City Health Department Personnel Policy & Procedure Manual was previously submitted for Board members' review. Funds for the project to revise the manual were budgeted in 2014; we were fortunate to be able to roll the funds forward to 2015, but time is of the essence in completing the project and expending the funds. 

• Interim Director of Nursing - Kara Kimerline has agreed to become Director of Nursing on an interim basis until the position can be filled. The Board will be asked to approve this appointment. 

• School Nursing Contracts - Current school nursing contracts will be reviewed in upcoming weeks and discussed with school administration. Board discussion of draft contracts for the 2015-2016 school year will take place in April with approval of contracts in May.  

Personnel Policy & Procedure Manual Section 5.11 indicates, "Eligible employees approved for coverage by the insurance carrier at initial appointment shall become covered within thirty (30) to ninety (90) days after appointment." Ms. Factor requests Board determination and approval of a start date for health insurance coverage.   

Ms. Factor will be attending a conference March 23-27, 2015. Board approval is requested for Ms. Zmuda to approve payroll, and emergency expenditures with prior verbal permission from Ms. Factor during her absence. 

Ms. Factor will discuss the need for required policies that are nonexistent and/or due for revision. 

Ms. Zmuda will present a newly-developed food safety award program for Board consideration.
